I’m a PhD student at the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, Leipzig and at the Institute for Geography at the Leipzig University. Coming from an physical and machine learning background, my former work was the detection of helplessness of persons in front of a ticket vending machine with an Memory Hidden Markov Model (PhD project in Chemnitz) and the detection of special gestures for suicide preparation in prison cells at a company. For my PhD project here I aim to combine remote sensing data with data from FORMIND via machine learning to explore the influence of weather extremes in the carbon balance of forests.
